GREAT IS THE ENEMY OF GOOD

Here She Was

Dirtsmith, May 30, 2026May 30, 2026

Well. Looks like I kinda fell off the edge of the world again. This happens periodically.

Amazingly, this site is still getting regular visitors! All because of a random post subjecting The Killers’ All These Things That I’ve Done to internal verbatim analysis.

(Which produced a vague interpretation of the song that is at odds with the author’s stated meaning – i.e. that it is about Iraq war vets).

Nevertheless, that article has driven steadily increasing traffic to this site – despite my failure to post anything in more than two years.

So, thank you to all the Killers fans out there!

A lot can happen in two years. In that time both I and my partner have had our relationships with our children grievously damaged by the other parents’ coercive control.

I haven’t seen my daughter in more than two years.

My partner’s son is held captive in a corrupt foreign jurisdiction (Portugal), under the total control of his father.

There is so much more to say about the phenomenon of Parental Alienation. But for now, here is a song I wrote for my daughter.

You can also find it on other streaming platforms. Or listen to it on YouTube –

Hollywood – A Pretty (Apocalyptic) Song

November 7, 2023November 7, 2023

Hollywood – A Pretty (Apocalyptic) Song I’m not sure why exactly, but so much of the music I have created over the years has evaporated into the digital void. (Actually there is a lot of it in the analog void as well, going all the way back to the first…

My Message is Simple

November 4, 2023May 9, 2024

My Message is Simple I have seen a beautiful expression – My religion is very simple. My religion is Kindness. — Gyalwa Rinpoche I LOVE that statement! And I agree completely. As far as religion goes, I don’t think it needs to get any more complicated than that. Unfortunately, I…

Thoughts While Driving

September 27, 2023November 1, 2023

The form of government that runs the state and country where I live is nominally a “Republic,” which is a representative democracy. That means that We the People “democratically” elect individuals who then represent our interests while performing the duties of office. This is considered preferable to a pure democracy,…
