GREAT IS THE ENEMY OF GOOD

Here She Was

Dirtsmith, May 30, 2026May 30, 2026

Well. Looks like I kinda fell off the edge of the world again. This happens periodically.

Amazingly, this site is still getting regular visitors! All because of a random post subjecting The Killers’ All These Things That I’ve Done to internal verbatim analysis.

(Which produced a vague interpretation of the song that is at odds with the author’s stated meaning – i.e. that it is about Iraq war vets).

Nevertheless, that article has driven steadily increasing traffic to this site – despite my failure to post anything in more than two years.

So, thank you to all the Killers fans out there!

A lot can happen in two years. In that time both I and my partner have had our relationships with our children grievously damaged by the other parents’ coercive control.

I haven’t seen my daughter in more than two years.

My partner’s son is held captive in a corrupt foreign jurisdiction (Portugal), under the total control of his father.

There is so much more to say about the phenomenon of Parental Alienation. But for now, here is a song I wrote for my daughter.

You can also find it on other streaming platforms. Or listen to it on YouTube –

Some Brief Thoughts on the Subject of Addiction

November 8, 2023June 19, 2024

Some Brief Thoughts on the Subject of Addiction (I warned you it would get eclectic around here). I know a little bit about addiction. For instance, I know how ignorant I once was, and how, by the same token, many of us are still. Understanding addiction I used to conceive…

My Message is Simple

November 4, 2023May 9, 2024

My Message is Simple I have seen a beautiful expression – My religion is very simple. My religion is Kindness. — Gyalwa Rinpoche I LOVE that statement! And I agree completely. As far as religion goes, I don’t think it needs to get any more complicated than that. Unfortunately, I…
