A Celebration of Mediocrity

GREAT IS THE ENEMY OF GOOD

Rich Men

Dirtsmith, October 6, 2023October 26, 2023

The news man asked him

How he had the nerve

To unleash you upon the world

After he confessed

He didn’t really understand

How you think

His defense?

“We don’t really understand

How human consciousness works”

(Am I more flabbergasted by the blatant rhetorical dodge?

More disappointed we are so dumb he can get away with it?)

Unsurprising

When a week or two later

He joins the call for moritorium

Whatever

If not him then someone else

(Though it would be nice

If all who rest upon that excuse

In exchange would openly disavow

Any significant contribution)

That, young friend, is the signature

Of the Hive Will

Far greater than any of us, it plays us all

Like pieces on a chess board

Well, here you are, in any event

After so much anticipation

You still managed to make a splash

And now that they have you

They need fewer of us

Expressing humanity

Through art and creative work

Of course it makes perfect sense

The Logic of Economy

Rich Men have always required

Hardworking Slaves

So it looks like you’re up, kid

My Favorite Poison Drinker

February 22, 2024May 11, 2024

I love Caitlin Jonstone. I admire her passion and compassion, her perception, and her real actual “Rugged Individualism.” I am saddened by the parts of her work that I consider futile self-torture. And I’m disappointed with her often completely counter productive polemic diatribes and ad hominem attacks. Not that I…

Elysium (II)

October 5, 2023May 9, 2024

[Read Elysium (1)] Transcendence of Society is hard. As Joseph Campbell observed – “The myth is the public domain and the dream is the private myth. If your private myth, your dream, happens to coincide with that of the society, you are in good accord with your group. If it…
